Koko Crater Trail consists of climbing 1,048 steps to the top of Koko Head Crater. The hike is a steep, no-shade climb up abandoned railroad ties that the military used during WWII as part of an incline tram to transport supplies to a lookout post. This popular hiking trail is not for the faint of heart. Those who are afraid of heights should use the bypass around the "bridge" portion where there is no ground underneath the steps. Once at the top, you'll be rewarded with spectacular views of Hanauma Bay and the Port Lock Peninsula.
