Trigger point therapy is a massage technique that can help alleviate the symptoms or even “get rid of” trigger points. These trigger points are traditionally thought to be tiny "muscle knots" or tissue adhesions that cause the sore spots when you press on them, such as in your calves or upper trapezius. Although many people find some relief in trigger point therapy, the mechanisms of how it works is as uncertain as most types of massage. Even the nature of trigger points and myofascial pain syndrome is still as murky as a cup of boba milk tea, despite more than 30 years of research.
