Cosima Olu was praised for having revived Swedish soul when she released
her EP "Head in the Clouds" in 2015. Debuting as a music producer her
long-awaited solo album Magnolia was released in November 2020. (In
November 2020 Cosima's long-awaited album Magnolia was released, where
she debuted as a music producer.) The album was highlighted in Swedish
media, by both Per Sinding-Larsen and Gaffa, as well as foreign blogs
such as "Scandinavian Soul" and "She makes music UK". With her album,
she depicts the contrast between darkness and light, the liberation from
letting go and the strength that comes with accepting the duality of
life. The album was created on a remote island outside Stockholm and in
the famous studio collective “Oda Studios.”
The music has been described as warm, authentic and emits both a sense
of established retro and fresh forward-looking. After the album release
in the midst of a pandemic, Cosima has finally taken the stage again,
most recently as the opening act for Magnus Tingsek on his Sweden tour
in the autumn of 2021.
Her own band consists of the top musicians Oscar Johansson (pi), Måns
Block (tr), Johan Christoffersson (sax), Mira Palme (choir) and Samuel
Löfdahl (bass). Cosima has previously worked with some of the country's
top artists and international acts, such as Miriam Bryant (SE), Seinabo
Sey (SE), Molly Sandén (SE) and Norrbotten Big Band (SE) & KNOWER (US).
