In American folklore, Champ or Champy is
the name of a lake monster said to live in Lake Champlain, a
125-mile-long body of fresh water shared by New York and Vermont, with a
portion extending into Quebec, Canada. The first sightings for
Champ began in 1609 and since that time,
there have been more than 300 sightings of the elusive sea creature.
Said to be the sister monster to Scotland's Loch Ness, or
"Nessie", Champ is just one of
the many strange things people believe can be found underwater.
