Like other countries in Asia, Vietnam has to
its own a rich tea culture which has been fostered for thousands of
years. Tea plays an essential role in the cultural life of the
Vietnamese both in the past and in the present. Vietnam is the world’s
7th largest producer of tea, after Indonesia, producing a quantity
roughly comparable to the amount made by Japan.
Vietnam produces a number of high-quality teas that are well-known
within Asia but virtually unknown in the rest of the world. Vietnam
produces black, green, white, and oolong teas, but is better known for
green teas .
