❓What is Scuba Diving?
Scuba Diving is a type of underwater diving whereby divers use breathing
equipment that is completely independent of a surface air supply. The
name "scuba", an acronym for "Self-Contained Underwater Breathing
Apparatus", was coined by Christian J. Lambertsen. Recreational scuba diving or sport diving is a kind of diving done
solely for pleasure. There are many different types of recreational diving that you can try, such as Open Water Diving,
Deep Diving, Night Diving, Wreck Diving, Ice Diving, and so much more.
❓How Can You Learn to Scuba Dive?
Recreational scuba divers are required to obtain an
open water diver certification where they gain the skills and
knowledge needed to dive safely and responsibly. I am personally certified as an Open Water Diver
with Scuba Schools International (SSI), but there are several different agencies to choose from that
can teach you. The Professional Association of Diving Instructors, or PADI, is another highly recommended agency
from which you can obtain your license.
