Meet the Awesome Possum!
💕 Possums are a misunderstood animal. Yes, they're dirty & stinky, but they’re not as bad as they look. Possums are actually pretty cool once you get to know more about them. They are the only marsupials in North America. Their tails provide enough stability that they can hang from them or use them to carry things. Possums eat as many as 5,000 ticks a season and as the term “playing possum” suggests, they do play dead when they need to escape harm. They are not entirely pretending when they do this, but slip into a catatonic state. And they very rarely carry rabies; their body temperatures are too low for the virus to survive. So when they hiss at you, it is just because they are frightened, not because they have rabies.
