As a first generation Canadian🇨🇦, borne of West Indian parents, I have
always known that the world is full of wondrous diversity. I was fortunate
to start my love affair with travel in my infancy thanks to a parent who
worked in the airline industry and an extended family equally afflicted
with the wanderlust bug.
At every opportunity, my parents would ship me off to spend extended
periods of time with family in other countries: Trinidad and Tobago,
England, Scotland, France, India. Though we were not wealthy, my childhood
was rich with cultural experiences.
Travel it seems is in my blood…and that of my ancestors one might argue.
It is a humbling experience to step outside of one’s comfort zone and into
a foreign country. The sense of wonder, adventure and the unknown is
invigorating. You never know what you’ll encounter:
🇮🇳 A snake charmer in an abandoned palace in
India?
🇭🇷 A capella singers amidst the Roman ruins of Split in
Croatia?
🇮🇸 A selfie opportunity with the Mighty Thor in
Iceland? Yes please.
🏴 Or maybe, a moment that highlights the beauty of the rolling hills of
Scotland
