Choosing relaxing colors like greens, blues, violets and adding water to make the colors flow & mix brings a sense of clam, while still giving a sense of contol by allowing the artist to make choices of color, how much color to add. Diluting bright colors to create pleasant tints & tones brings a feeling of disengagement from worries of work or just daily life, making it easier to take a break and return with better solutions to life problems. The loose brush strokes and abstract nature of a watercolor painting makes it more about the soothing feeling and less about the final outcome, opening the mind to be more creative and think outside the box.
"My longtime, childhood interest in watercolor painting
bacame my savior
when it came to breaking away from
constant berrage of stress
created by routine life"
In addition to being a stress reliver, painting or any form of Creative
Art is known to spur emotional growth, boost cognitive ability and be
theraupeutic or meditative.

If you're buying your first paintbrushes for watercolors, I'd recommend three round brushes: small (around size 3), medium (5-6), and large (12). Because of their versatility, they'll be all you need in the beginning. In fact, you could paint an entire painting with one medium round brush (I have) but it's a bit slow and inconvenient.
