What is Knitting?

Knitting is the process of using two or more needles to loop yarn into a series of interconnected loops in order to create a finished garment or some other type of fabric. The word is derived from knot, thought to originate from the Dutch verb knutten, which is similar to the Old English cnyttan, โ€œto knotโ€.

To get started , you will need needles and yarn. As a beginner it is recommended that you start with a chunky yarn and bigger (thick) needles. As ou build your knitting skile you can and will move on to using a variety of needle types (straight vs circular needles) as well as various types of yarn - whether thick or thin!

Tip:
Start with a cheaper acrylic yarn so if and when you make mistakes, they won't feel like such a big deal. It is normal as a beginner to make mistakes. For needles, pick what you like, but a wood or bamboo set of needles will provide a easier grip.
