Climate change has become one of the most important topics over the past few years. Greenhouse emissions are negatively impacting our environment. Our goal is to reduce most of those emissions by the year 2030. People are working hard to find ways in which we can integrate those emissions back into infrastructure or other large-scale projects.
Currently cement production for concrete-based structures is contributing to a large percentage of those emissions. An effective way of reducing some of those emissions is through injecting back carbon dioxide gas into the cement mixture. It would decrease the use of other components that yield the chemical reaction that releases carbon dioxide gas as a byproduct.
The structure of the concrete slabs would be fortified because of the carbon dioxide. Ultimately, the carbon dioxide that is absorbed in the mixture is permanently trapped and turned into minerals.
