Whale Tourism

in Santa Catarina, Brazil

Between the months of June to November the Santa Catarina coast boasts an incredible natural phenomenon that sees hundreds of Southern Right Whales and Humpback Whales migrate from the cold waters in Patagonia, Argentina along the southern Brazilian coast to give birth.

Whilst in many other destinations around the world you need a boat and a lengthy journey out into the open water to observe whales, this is not the case in Santa Catarina. Southern Right Whales and Humpback Whales can frequently be spotted from dry land as they tend to hug the shallow waters close to the shoreline and have even been known to interact with surfers waiting for the perfect wave.
