Russo Family Recipes!

Comfort food from my family's kitchen to yours!

Quick backstory: After college, I decided to move across the country and try living somewhere brand new. My then-boyfriend (now husband) and I drove across the country from Connecticut to Los Angeles where we lived for two years before ultimately coming back. Before I left, my mom gave me a recipe book filled with comfort foods I grew up eating. I wanted to share one recipe that bring me such happy feelings when I make it (and eat it).

Banana Bread

The first is my mom's banana bread. I don't think this is a particularly crazy recipe but as you can see from the image, I have made it A LOT over the years. Also, as a person who usually adds chocolate (or chocolate chips) to most baking recipes, I leave this as is (but feel free to add whatever extras you want - follow your heart ❤ ).

Let me translate this for you:

Ingredients:

Directions:

  1. 1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees
  2. 2. Combine salt, flour, baking powder, and baking soda
  3. 3. In another bowl, combine sugar, oil and eggs and beat until frothy
  4. 4. Add bananas to frothy bowl and blend thoroughly
  5. 5. Fold into flour mixture until blended
  6. 6. Pour into greased bread pan
  7. 7. Bake at 325 for one hour
  8. 8. Once cooked, (check by inserting toothpick - if it comes out clean then it is done) place pan on a rack and let stand for 10 minutes.
  9. 9. After 10 minutes, invert pan
  10. 10. Enjoy!
