Get out into the garden every day
Whether it's to water your plants, harvest some herbs or plant up a pot, spending some time in the garden every day will mean that you take better care of your plants. You'll also notice problems sooner and be able to nip them in the bud before they become a major issue. -
Mind your watering
There are two types of gardeners. Those who water their plants and those who don't. The former are called green thumbs, the latter, black thumbs. If you know you'll forget to water your plants, try using self watering pots, which have a water reservoir at the bottom. But don't be fooled - you will still need to water them around once a week, and more frequently if it's hot. -
Start small
For those new to gardening, a common mistake is to get over excited at the nursery and buy every plant that takes your fancy. This is more likely to leave you overwhelmed than inspired. Try easing into it with just a few easy care plants like rosemary, thyme and sage. Then you can add to your garden bit by bit, learning what works where in your space.
