Same Job = Same Payment
That's an easy and logical equation, but not reality. Though we live in
the year 2020, women still earn less for doing the same job.
We distinguish between the unadjusted and the
adujsted gender pay gap.
Unadjusted gender pay gap is the definition for the difference between
the average gross hourly earnings of men and women expressed as a
percentage of the average gross hourly earnings of men. It does not take
into account factors like education, work experience, sector or the size
of the company - that is called the adjusted gender pay gap.
The gender pay gap varies significantly in the EU. But on average, women
in the EU earn about 16% less than men (unadjusted gender pay gap) and
that has only changed minimally over the last decade.
