The witcher schools are the organizations which train and equip
witchers, the itinerant monster slayers. While schools differ in mindset
and details of training, most of them teach equally professional
hunters. Headquartered in seclude locations, each one is built on the
blood, sweat, and tears of countless children who stood within them,
honing their technique and skill. Most of them had fallen up to the
first half of the 13th century under various human attacks, but at least
some of them were rebuilt and continued to function.
School of the Wolf
In the days of its glory, the School of the Wolf was one of the most
recognized of the witcher schools. Its members gained the reputation
of professional and reliable monster slayers.
School of the Cat
The School of the Cat emerged not as a mere training facility, but a
significant piece of the local political chessboard. To win various
rulers' favors, masters of the school rejected the policy of
neutrality, sending their disciples as spies, assassins, and swords
for hire.
School of the Griffin
The Griffins kept the original "knightly" values of the witcher
order. They focused on magic, preparedness and flexibility. They also
taught their students proper etiquette. They also made sure that
Griffin witchers knew they had a purpose and brothers that would
support them.
School of the Bear
The Bear witchers had little to no brotherly bonds with each other
and no true loyalty to their school. At the peak of their power, the
Bears often traveled to Skellige, both due to its amount of monsters
and the islanders' mindsets being akin to their own.
