Born in Pennsylvania in 1958,
Keith Haring
knew soon after graduating high school that he didn’t seek a traditional
career as a commercial graphic artist.
His first vast exposure of his work started with the empty subway panels
of the NYC subway tunnels, where sometimes he was creating up to 40
different drawings daily.
From the years of 1980-1989, his work was celebrated in both public
projects, billboards, theater designs, and murals across the world for
such causes as: HIV/AIDS, drug prevention, literacy programs and more.
Believing that art belonged to the masses, Keith Haring used his brief
life to create a lasting impact on not only the art community but
society as a whole.
