Laura Dave wins this year’s Mystery & Thriller award for The Last Thing He Told Me in which a mother and her stepdaughter try to unwind a lethally knotted secret. The second places goes to Alex Michaelides for the book called The Maidens where the main character is a professor at Cambridge but also a murderer. Stephan King wins the third place with Billy Summers . Billy is a killer for hire but he’ll do the job only if the target is a truly bad guy.
