Cordillera Huayhuash

Possibly the best alpine trek in the entire world, the Cordillera Huayhuash trek has become well-known among outdoors enthusiasts for its sheer mountain peaks, pristine glacial lakes, and encounters with traditional Andean culture. Just to be clear, this trek is difficult and sometimes dangerous , so the full trek should be attempted only by experienced hikers.

Gocta, Chachapoyas

Locals have known of the Gocta waterfall for centuries, but it was a secret to the outside world until 2005, when German Stefan Ziemendorff ventured there with a group of Peruvian explorers. Now, it is considered one of the tallest waterfalls in the world, at 2,530 feet high (771 meters).

Santa Cruz, Huaraz

One of the best treks you can do in Huaraz is the Santa Cruz trail that will take you through the Cordillera Blanca mountains, home to many 6000m+ peaks. This trek only takes 4 days but it will reward you with the view of a stunning turquoise alpine lake, fantastic view from the high pass (highest point at 4,750m), and a front seat row to the one of the most prominent mountains in the region such as the Taulliraju (5,830 m) and Alpamayo (5,947m) etc.

Choquequirao, Cuzco

High on the Quriwayrachina mountain range of Peru lies the Choquequirao archaeological site, and the only way in or out is on foot. Now, this trek is not for the fainthearted, but it’s almost unsurpassed in Peru. With sweeping views of the Andes and opportunities to observe local plant and wild life, including the sacred Andean condor, this trek is a must for any serious hiker.
