A bit about me 🎓
Hello! My name is Sofiya and I was born in Burma (also known as Myanmar 🇲🇲 ). I can speak three languages: Burmese, Hindi and English. I migrated with my family in February 2006 and since then I have lived here in Perth, WA. I started from Year 6 Primary School, where I quickly had to learn English then worked my way up to High School and University. I have graduated with Bachelor of Science, majoring in Geology from The University of Western Australia in early 2016. You can read more about me on LinkedIn.

My Career 👷🏻♀️
My career journey in mining started with Fortescue as a Summer Internship student between 2015 to 2018. Upon completing my 4th internship, I was lucky enough to secure a full time role as a Mine Geologist at Solomon Minesite in early 2019. I had many great mentors along the way who were supportive and helped me develop my career. Past twelve months, I have been training and mentoring new interns and colleagues in my team. Outside work hours, I like to organsie social team sport such as soccer to stay fit and for some fun with mates.

Hobbies & Interest ⛱
I love to travel (overseas or locally) to experience new adventures. If I am not travelling, I like catching up with family and friends. I enjoy spending most of my time outdoor and doing fun activities such as kayaking and hiking. I absolutely love meeting people from different cultures and trying different cuisines!
