butter, Hazelnut butter Macadamia nut butter, ect. However, the most
common one is Peanut Butter.
The general idea of peanut butter goes a long way back — all the way to
the Aztecs, who used to grind roasted peanuts into a paste. It wasn't
quite the same idea as today's peanut butter.
So, who invented peanut butter?! Marcelllus Gilmore Edson
in 1884, Dr. John Harvey Kellogg in 1896, or Dr. Ambrose Straub? We can
thank all three people for it. Really, it was a group effort.
First, there's Canada's Marcellus Gilmore Edson, who patented the
process for making "peanut paste" in 1884. Then, Dr. John Harvey Kellogg
patented another process for making peanut butter from raw nuts.
Finally, in 1903, Dr. Ambrose Straub patented his own invention: a
machine for making peanut butter.
