Money + Impact

Impact Investing

Impact investing is an attempt to align financial returns with social and environmental impact. It means to include the social and environmental impact aspect into the investment decisions, combining money and impact. For example, instead of investing in fossil fuel companies, one can choose to finance renewable energy projects, or intead of putting their money into global banks, investing in a community-based bank that supports small business.

Differently from philanthropy, impact investing does not try to minimize the negative social consequences caused by the system, but rather its mechanisms to transform it from within. By using the power of the investment decisions, it leverages the trillions of euros that already circulate in the global economy to direct resources to social change.
