πŸ‡ΈπŸ‡ͺ I love life in Sweden πŸ‡ΈπŸ‡ͺ

... even during dark, cold winters! πŸ₯Ά

I am from Austria πŸ‡¦πŸ‡ΉπŸ₯¨, with half-French background πŸ‡«πŸ‡·πŸ₯–, but moved to Stockholm half a year ago and adore it here!

I did my Master's degree in Sweden 5 years ago and promised myself that I would one day return. Every time I came on visit I had a tough time leaving again. I lived abroad most of my adult life, but the country I liked the most was undoubtlessly Sweden.

My last visit was in December 2020 ✈️ and that is when I made my decision to return, for good. In April this year, I quit my job in Austria and at end of May I packed my bags and landed in Stockholm πŸ›„ The latter is often named Europe's Silicon Valley, so little surprise I ended up working for a tech-company, within Sales πŸ‘©β€πŸ’»

Moving to Stockholm was a great decisions, I love my job, live on SΓΆdermalm which is a hip borough, have a fantastic Swedish flatmate, many of my friends from uni-time are still around, and so much more that makes life here a blast! I already experienced one winter ❄️, as I was studying up North in the country, so I know I can cope with - more than the cold - the darkness. The sun sets at 3:30 pm now (November), and we had first snow already! β˜ƒοΈ But hey, you know the upside? Endless days in Summer, as the sun barely sets! β˜€οΈ Also, the Swedes know how to make the most of winter. Full of celebrations, reasons to gather around nice foods, Christmas decorations lighting up the streets... Stockholm does not get gloomy at all, winter rather feels cosy! ⭐️

Yet another reason to like Stockholm... fika! β˜•οΈπŸ° A wonderful Swedish custom celebrated every day, consisting of taking a break, typically not empty handed: rather grab yourself a cup of coffee (or two - we are a nation of coffee-addicts, blame the darkness) and some pastry 😍 Not to forget: good company! Fika is an excuse to socialize, too.
