Mental health: includes our emotional, psychological, and social
well-being. It affects how we think, feel, and act. It also helps
determine how we handle stress, relate to others, and make choices. Mental
health is important at every stage of life, from childhood and adolescence
through adulthood.
A few ways to look after your mental heatlh
Deep breaths: Pause...just breathe. It's quite easy to become overwhelmed with so much. Take a moment to assess your feelings and
focus on 3 to 4 long inhales and exhales, but, of course, always do more
if needed.
Keep active: When you are not feeling your best, I have
found that it helps to get moving, whether that is taking your pet for a
walk, going to the park and walking a few laps, or even doing chores
around the house. It is recommended to get 30 minutes of activity at
least five days a week. That should also help release chemicals in the
brain that make you feel good!
Let it out: If you are comfortable, talk with someone
about how are you are feeling. Keeping it bottled in can put your mind
in distress. Another option would be writing it down in a journal. That
is your safe space where you can express whichever way you are feeling
and letting it all out from your mind.
Remember that there are resources available, and please do not give up
because you are loved ♥
