Honey is a sweet, thick fluid made by bees from the nectar of flowering plants through pollination. Honey contains several nutrients including vitamins, minerals, antioxidants. It's used by many for diverse purposes. Some of its common uses include:

Honey is also used for so many other ailments depending on the cultural practices of the individual. However, it is not recommended for infants as cases of botulism have been recorded from children who took it. While there have been a lot of experiments carried out on the use of honey for coughs, treatment of burn wounds etc, there is still little of such known research on the use of honey for facial and skin care; a practice which is often propagated by marketers of honey brands and manufacturers of related food and body care products.

Unfortunately, a lot of bee species are increasingly under threat as a result of human activities. The United Nations sets out the 20th of May as World Bee Day. The theme for this year's event was Bee Engaged : Build back better for bees.
