The Worldwide Phenomenen
K-pop, or korean pop music, has become somewhat of a worldwide
phenomenon over the last few years. For many people in the western
world, it may seem like k-pop has come out of nowhere. In reality, the
modernised version of korean pop music has been around since the 1990s
as part of the korean wave. K-pop as a term became popular in the 2000s,
and the genre is now conisdered one of the biggest worldwide. The
international success of k-pop initially began in other Asian countries
like Japan and China. From there it expanded throughout Asia and
eventually the rest of the world, with 2020 being a record-breaking year
for k-pop in terms of growth.
