Big Jo
The Jolene family of restaurants has
been one of the top successes of the last year in the London food
scene. It began with the titular Jolene on Newington Green, but has
since branched out to Big Jo on Hornsey Road, and several new Jolene
branches. The sandwiches are ever-changing (check out their
Instagram accounts
for daily menus) but always delicious.
Dusty Knuckle
This Dalston institution
recently branched out to a second location on Green Lanes. Also
known for its excellent pastries and celebrated pizza nights, the
sandwiches are enormous and constantly changing. Check out the
roving
Milk Float, where you can pre-order a sandwich to pick up at one of their
regular locations across the North and East.
Dom's Subs
These iconic subs can be found on
Hackney Road and in their newer outlet in the City (appropriately
within an old Subway location). There are a few subs to choose from,
from a classic deli-style option packed full of cold cuts to a Thai
offering inspired by streetfood staple Grapow, plus excellent veggie
and vegan options.
Max's Sandwich Shop
Max's on Crouch Hill takes
a strong stance against sourdough, with all sandwiches being served
on homemade foccacia. The short but perfectly designed menu includes
just four sandwiches, and a couple of side dishes. We recommend the
side of spuds!
