Max Verstappen is considered as an exceptional formula one driver; he is widely recognised for his innate ability to switch off, becoming almost robot-like when infront of the wheel.
His talent may be sourced from a young age from when his father and former formula one driver, Jos Verstappen, trained Max in the rules of the road and psychological aspects of racing, as well as acted as his number one mechanic until Max was old enough to become his own. They travelled many hours in a camper van across Europe and fighting strong in every race. When Max let easy wins go, his father instilled in him that it wasn't good enough and that they weren't his best performances, pushing Max to victory. “my dad sometimes thought I was too relaxed, too easy-going”. Jos agrees. He says it was “all very easy for him” and felt that sometimes meant that Max did not care enough.""
Max became the youngest driver to compete in Formula One ("He arrived in 2015 as a prodigy") and is now challenging Mercede's top driver, Lewis Hamilton, for first place in the Driver's Championships of 2021
“Max is not distracted by anything, the psychological games leave him cold.....”
