Milton

My adoption story

I was born in Los Angeles where I lived with a Mexican family who called me Canello. After only being on this earth a few weeks, I got really sick. My family couldn’t afford taking me to the vet, so they decided to leave me at a shelter for homeless dogs.
When I came in, the people at the shelter thought I had no chance to even survive the night.
But I’m so glad they gave me a chance to prove them wrong.

I survived the night, and slowly I started to get better each day. They called me a miracle!

I met a friend at the shelter, Jagger, and we decided it was us against the world. We did everything together, never left each other’s side.

Every Sunday they took us to this store where people came and looked at us. This was our chance to get a home. Unfortunately no one ever wanted to adopt us.
So there we were, month after month… no luck. I started to hear the people at the shelter talking about putting us to sleep…

But then one Sunday, these two best friends came in to the store. They wanted us! And we were going to live together! We finally got our fur-ever home! This was the best day of my life 🥰

I got a new name, Milton, and a new life.
We loved our new home, and I thought life couldn’t get any better.

Until one day… Jagger got sick. I recognized the symptoms… Our humans called the vet, but they told us not to worry since we had all our vaccine shots. But we decided to take Jagger to the vet anyway! When we got there they told us she got the Parvovirus. The same virus I had when my first family left me at the shelter. But how could this be? The adoption center had told us we were up to date with our vaccine shots when we left.
We later learned that they had lied to us. They had given us false vaccination papers.

Jagger wasn’t as strong as me… That night I lost my best friend 😥

I was sad for a long time… and she will forever be my first love.

But time passed by, and I slowley learned how to live again.

One day my human told me we were going to move! We were going to her home country.

So here I am, in Stockholm, Sweden 🤗
I have found so many new friends and I love running around with them in the woods. Im so happy!❤️️

If my human didn’t adopt me, I probably wouldn’t be alive today.
So if you are thinking about getting a furry friend, please consider adopting! There’s so many dogs just like me, that would love to get a second chance in life!🐾
