In fact, dim sum can be the answer in many major cities, for example,
San Francisco, Vancouver, and Bangkok. Originating from Guangzhou, China
and then making its way over to Hong Kong, this Cantonese cuisine is
often enjoyed for brunch or lunch. When Cantonese people want to eat dim
sum, they say they want to go "Yum Cha 飲茶" which literally means "to
drink tea." It is no coincidence that the first thing the waiter will
ask you is "What tea would you like to drink?"
Dim sum are little steamed dishes with usually 3-4 pieces per dish. The
dishes are meant to be placed in the middle of the table and shared with
others, which makes dim sum a great meal for bonding and communal
gathering.
