My apartment is still a mess! - no I
haven't gotten to that part of the quarantine yet. But for my summer
after remote teaching, my new found love has been for plants. I do not
know how long this phase will last, but they have been bringing me so
much joy and I hope this is forever!
Oh and by the way, This is not my room, but this is along the
lines of where I may potentially be heading. It was just a relatively
appropriate picture from Google.
As far as I can remember, I've usually had a hard time keeping plants
alive. I was not good with remembering to water them - but that was also
partially because I put all of my plants on the same watering schedule
... when one looked like it was dying, it was time for everyone to get
water. For most of those green babies, that did not work.
I've realized since that I actually have to
DO RESEARCH! It is so important to get to know your
plants. There is an app that I use to help me out with each individual
plant's needs. It's called
Picture This . At the very least, I had to
make sure I knew what kind of plants I have and then I
can always Google from there.
However, there is one little lady plant (not so little anymore...and a
pothos!!, not a lady... ) that has been with me for a while. I've almost lost
her a couple of times, but for the most part, she's held strong. And
then it dawned on me - there must be other plants like this one, that
can deal with someone like me who was accidentally neglectful. And oh
my, there are! The trick was to look for low-light, low-watering indoor
plants! Why not have them clean the air while you're at it?
Once I found those series of plants that I can work with, I
think I've become obsessed. My boyfriend might say so anyway.
I'd say I just have time now to realize that they truly truly truly
bring me so much joy. To date, aka within the past month, I now have 11
plant babies and they are growing! Don't get me wrong, I'm still no
plant pro, and I still have a lot of research to do, but I'm so happy
with them. I've also subscribed to a succulent service - okay maybe a
little obsessed.
But how can you not, especially when they bring so much life to your
space? Finding photos on Instagram also served as much inspiration.
