Creating Art With Your Fingertips
Ceramics is sometimes referred to as pottery. Either name is describing
the art of creating something with clay by using your hands. Some pieces
are hand built and others are thrown on the wheel, such as the picture
above. Whichever technique people choose can lead to great pieces of
art. Any age can start learning how to hand build. The recommended age
for starting on the wheel is fourteen but some start sooner and many
start later.
Many studios offer classes for people who are beginner, intermediate,
and advanced. These classes typically can be taken by many ages. There
are even places that offer classes virtually!
