What is Ayurveda?

Ayurveda is the traditional Indian medicine.

Ayurveda relates our bodies to the elements of nature, creating a holistic concept that aims not only to cure disease but also to maintain health. Ayurveda is about the fact that we are all part of the macrocosm and consist of the five basic elements:

Air Either Fire Water Earth

Our own little microcosm, for example our organs, are shaped by these elements and thus have special properties. Ayurveda groups these elements into functional units, the doshas Vata, Pitta and Kapha.

What are Doshas?

Every cell in our body is made up of all three doshas. The individual balance of the functional types makes us unique living beings. Each of us has our very own DNA composition and thus also our own dosha composition. When the doshas in your body are in balance, you have the greatest potential for perfect health. Our lifestyle, e.g. eating habits, can disturb this natural balance and cause illness.
