Pottery is a useful craft skill with which you can learn to make both functional and decorative items and containers of many shapes and sizes — mugs, dinner plates, bowls, vases, crocks and much more.
Pottery can be shaped on the wheel or through hand-building techniques. You can learn either or both of these approaches in our hands-on classes.
Our beginning wheel throwing class, Pottery I, will introduce you to the basics of making a cylindrical pot on the potter’s wheel. Next, in Pottery II together with Pottery III, you’ll learn seven shaping techniques that will enable you to make many different types of pots on the wheel, plus in Pottery III, you’ll learn how to load and unload the kiln and fire pots.
