Surrounding yourself with plants has proven benefits, from relieving stress, improving mood, purifying the air and increasing productivity. With more of us working from home, why not spruce up your environemnt!
1. Snake plant
If a prize were available for the most tolerant plant, snake plant (Sansevieria) would certainly be one of the frontrunners. Snake plant care is very straightforward. These plants can be neglected for weeks at a time; yet, with their strappy leaves and architectural shape, they still look fresh. Additionally, they can survive low light levels, drought and have few insect problems. NASA research has even shown that snake plants are able to help keep the air inside your home clean, removing toxins such as formaldehyde and benzene. In short, they are the perfect houseplants.
2. Devil's Ivy
The pothos plant is considered by many to be a great way to get started caring for houseplants. Since pothos care is easy and undemanding, this lovely plant is an easy way to add some green in your home.
Pothos plants make a great addition to your bathroom or office because they can tolerate low light. While pothos likes a wide variety of light conditions, they do not do well in direct sunlight.
3. Cast Iron plant
The cast iron plant (Aspidistra elatior), also known as iron plant and ballroom plant, is an extremely hardy houseplant and a perennial favorite in some regions. Growing cast iron plants is especially favored by those who don’t have a lot of time for plant care, as this species can survive even the most extreme conditions where other plants would shrivel and die, which makes cast iron plant care a snap.
The cast iron plant grows well in low light indoors and is not finicky about regular water either. Although a slow grower, this reliable performer will live for many years, reaching a mature height of around 2 feet (61 cm.).
4. Corn Plant
Also known as mass cane, dracaena corn plant (Dracaena fragrans) is a well-known indoor plant, especially popular for its beauty and easy growing habit. Dracaena corn plant, which grows happily in a variety of conditions with very little attention, is a favorite of novice gardeners.
5. Peace Lily
Peace lilies (Spathiphyllum), also known as closet plants, are a popular choice for offices and homes. These lovely plants not only brighten up a living space, but are also excellent at cleaning the air of the room they are in. Like many popular indoor plants, peace lilies enjoy medium to low light. Which kind of light you need to provide will depend more on what you want your peace lily plant to look like. Peace lilies that are placed in more light tend to produce the lovely white spathes and flowers more, while peace lilies in low light will bloom less and will look more like a traditional foliage plant.
6. Chinese money plant
Pilea Peperomioides, also known as Chinese money plant or pancake plant has easily become one of the world’s most favourite household plants of all. The beautiful round leaves are incredibly elegant and their adorable size and decorative nature, makes Pileas the perfect statement piece for any home dining or side table.
