Vanilla is one of those ingredients that we take for granted - it flavours everything from cakes to ice-cream, but most people don’t know much about it. These aromatic pods are grown from a vining orchid so not only are they tasty but beautiful as well. Once the beans are cured they can be used as is or turned into vanilla paste or extract, which is the most common form we use in our cooking and baking.
