The first stop on our trip was to the Cliffs of Kerry. The Kerry
Cliffs are over 305 meters high and are located around 3km from the
Portmagee village. It was one of our destinations during our drive
around the Ring of Kerry. From the cliffs, you can see the famous
Skellig Islands which is one of only two UNESCO World Heritage Sites
in the Republic of Ireland.
The view from the Kerry Cliffs was refreshing and simply breathtaking.
If you get a chance to go to Country Kerry, be sure to visit the
cliffs.😁
Next up on our trip was Rossbeigh Beach. Located on the outskirts of
Glenbeigh, Rossbeigh Beach is one of the most beautiful beaches in
Ireland. Rossbeigh beach is part of the Ring of Kerry and stretches
for 7 km. The beach overlooks the mountains on the Dingle peninsula
and is perfect for water activities such as swimming and surifng.🏄🏼♀️
After a quick swim in the beach on a cold, windy day, we headed down
for a visit to the local Kerry Bog Village Museum which was very
interesting. We were able to experience how Irish people lived during
the 19th century through the thatched cottage houses full of antiques
and see the tools that were used for framing during those times. As a
bonus, we got the see the Irish wolfhounds, one of the tallest dogs in
the world!😆
Finally, our last stop was a visit to the Gap of Dunloe. The Gap is approximately an 11 km drive and the scenery was absolutely exquisite. The Gap of Dunloe separates the two mountain ranges, MacGillycuddy's Reeks and the Purple Mountain Group, with the river Loe running through the Gap.It was formed more than 25,000 years ago during Ireland's last ice age. When we visited, the mountains stood wide, tall and green - and truly reflected why Ireland is known as the Emerald Isle. 🌄
