Hello and welcome! My name is Magdalena and I am from Poland, although
today I would like to take you on a little 'trip' to two places:
- Bilbao in Spain where I currently live,
-
and Porto in Portugal where I lived for almost 2 years.
- β¨
My life abroad and such strong ties to both cities are connected to my polyglot inclinations. I can dare to say I speak 5 languages π!
Starting with Polish, which is my mother tongue; English - I have got a Master's degree in English Philology
(wrote my MA and BA theses about post-hardcore music subculture πΆ and also got the CAE and FCE certificates),
Spanish (I used to speak Portunhol when I moved to Bilbao, and now in June 2021 I got 94% on the Spanish B2 exam π),
Portuguese (I have been fascinated by the country and its language since 2010 and got B1 certificate at U.Portoπ)
and basic French (I studied it at the university and it was the second foreign language I fell in love with after watching the JESC 2004 π).
Languages are fantastic and the knowledge of them enables us to learn and discover so many things. I currently work as a teacher and try to spread my passion and inspire my students π©π»βπ«.
I strongly believe that languages and cultural knowledge broaden our horizons and make us better people overall. And, what's important for many people, they allow to travel basically carefreely,
enabling us to see all these breathtaking places - such as Porto and Bilbao - around the world!
As Hans Christian Andersen once wrote, To travel is to live!

Bilbao (Bilbo) is a city in northern Spain, the largest city in the Basque
Country and the tenth largest city in Spain. It is situated in the
north-central part of Spain, south of the Bay of Biscay, and its main
urban core is surrounded by two small mountain ranges. As of today, I have been living in Bilbao for almost 3 years (since 30th
September 2018).

Porto (O Porto) is a city in northern Portugal, the second-largest city in
Portugal and it is located along the Douro River estuary and the coastline
of the Atlantic Ocean. Port wine, one of the country's most famous
exports, is named after the city. I lived in Porto for almost 2 years
altogether, first during the academic year of 2013/2014 and then again in
2018. This is the city I call my 'second home' (Bilbao is only the third oneπ€)!
