Invasive exotic plant species - harmful to biodiversity - are often intentionally introduced into ecosystems, including via garden centres.
Therefore, getting information before buying and planting species in your gardens is a small gesture accessible to all to avoid introductions.
In addition, invasive plants more easily colonize disturbed habitats.
Protecting, respecting and cherish our nature can therefore prevent the expansion of these unwanted plants.

The butterfly bush (Buddleja davidii Franch.) is a very widespread species in our region. This Asian ‘shrub grows rapidly and dominates native pioneer species living in open and sunny habitats. Several ways to fight against this species are possible:

Do not plant it in gardens (this species is still sold in a large number of garden centres). Many endemic alternatives are available such as the European elder (Sambucus nigra L.).
Remove it in its entirety and dispose of the waste securely.
Cut the flowers to avoid dissemination by the seeds.
