Chow Chows are one of the oldest dog breeds in the world! They are
originally from the mountains of China and date back to the hang
Dynasty, were they were kept as everything dogs. They were
used as guard dogs, for hunting and when they were too old, their thick
fluffy fur was used for coats. Their most unique feature is their
blue tongues, a
characteristic they share with their close(ish) relative the
Sharpei!
Chow Chows are unlike all other dog breeds and much more similar to cats
in their personality, earning them the moniker
"the cats of the dog world", and just like cats you're
likely to find these teddy bear-esque dogs snoozing in the sun all day
long!
My Chow Chow Kevin (in the
pictures) is almost 5 years old, he loves treats, butt scratches,
paddling in the Thames and playing in the snow!
