You will find no hillbilly elegies here.
We believe everyone and every
place has a story - especially Appalachia and all those who have ever wondered these hills.. Our goal is to create a
diverse, inclusive space for writers to create and tell their stories in
whatever form they fill fit, whether it be poetry, fiction, non-fiction,
or even art. From daily prompts to monthly writing workshops, we offer a
variety of outlets for writers in any stage of creation. And regardless of
whether you've ever found yourself wondering these storied mountains or
not, you and your tall tales are welcome here.
Author and memoirist, Amy Jo Burns, has crafted a powerful story that centers on Wren, a young girl raised by her fanatical father and loving mother in the isolation of the Appalachian Mountains. When Wren's world comes crashing down around her, she must confront her identity and heritage under the guidance of a moonshiner. In the words of AWC member, Brandon, "It was everything my little Appalachian heart needed." To learn more about this book and Amy Jo, visit her website: amyjoburns.com
