Surfing is the popular water activity of riding waves. It is popular throughout the world, appearing for the first time at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. It’s thought to have originated in Polynesia, with 12th Century cave-paintings depicting people riding waves. (Planet Surf)


The number of health benefits of the seemingly 'chill' sport are enormous. Strength in the legs, core, back and shoulders as well as cardiovascular fitness are just some of the health positives to this sport. Other positives include stress relief, a good excuse to get to the beach, and a fun way to exercise and socialise.

Whilst it takes some practice to be able to stand up and ride a wave, lessons with friends or by yourself are a fun way to learn a new skill.
