The jackfruit is the national fruit of Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, and the state fruit of the Indian states of Kerala and Tamil Nadu. It is available internationally canned or frozen and in chilled meals as are various products derived from the fruit such as noodles and chips.
Jackfruit can be made is such a variety of ways. It can be used to make traditional South Asian, Mexican, and even American dishes. With one tree providing so many pounds of fruit, this could be an answer to malnourishment and famine that plagues many counrties. Another benefit includes the reduction in carbon footprint since animal agriculture could also be minimized drastically.
