No man's sky came out in 2016 to critical backlash, from the broken,
glitchy gameplay, to the lack of anything to do when it worked. A lot of
this backlash was aimed at at the lead developer Sean Murray. Most of
this was down to his interviews claiming that there would be space
battles, multiplayer and many other features by launch. My first
encounter with no mans sky was the Internet historians video covering
its journey, from awful beginnings to its current state.
Its massive, I have yet to reach the galactic core. I ended up
buying it last year and have put in about 70 hours. Its a bit like
minecraft with its creative capabilities, though its real strength is
its procedural generated content. While it can get a bit repetative, its
a very good game to switch off with. Hello Games, the company behind No
Mans has even gone on to make Hello Labs, a subset of the company that
focuses on creating more procedural generated games.
Fingers crossed that one day Cyberpunk 2077 can pull a similar
turnaround! (I doubt it, I was the worlds biggest idiot and bought it
on ps4 without reading the reviews)
