French is my favorite language; therefore, I would like to share with you some activities that improved my French skills. This post will be helpful for people tired of daily classes repeating vocabulary and grammar rules. On y va!
Try to watch movies or series that are made completely in French, avoid dubbing and get use to subtitles in your mother tongue.
Pro tip: if you feel more advance in French try to watch with subtitles in french to improve and increase your vocubalary or without subtitles at all!
For starters you can watch the classic movies of French cinema like Amélie, La vie en rose or les intouchables.
If you have a Netflix account, you can enjoy movies like the African doctor, He even have your eyes or the wedding planner and series like Plan coeur, Dix pourcent or Lupin.

Singing in French even if you don't understand what you are singing about is great to ameliorate your pronunciation, read the lyrics of the whole song beforehand, try to sing along. As your read the lyrics, try to identify new words and deepen into their meaning, sometimes you’ll find interesting phrases that won’t translate in your mother tongue.
Pro tip: Whenever you feel ready, listen to some podcast, in Spotify there are several choices for different levels of French. You’ll be surprised to find out that you actually understand more than you thought. Some of my favorites are Mythes et légendes, Émotions and Culture 2000.

YouTube is the perfect place to find about life outside your bubble. I find interesting following youtubers that talk about their daily activities in a francophone environment they give you the opportunity to learn through their camera their way of living and seeing the world, also your cultural baggage will increase!
As mentioned before, try to follow the video with subtitles in French or in your mother tongue and try harder to follow with any subtitle at all!

It might seem an obvious activity to read in French, the key is to find something fun and interesting to read. For example, search online for French magazines that write about your interests or try to read the French newspaper. Also try to follow content creators in French. I follow on Instagram Konbini, Les Inrockuptibles and Le Monde.
Also try to finish to read a book completely written in French, you can start with a book you’ve already read in your mother tongue to ease the reading comprehension. For example, several years ago I read hundred years of Solitude by Gabriel García Márquez and now I’m reading Cent ans de solitude.
