The Process
It's not hard to make beer. If you can follow a basic recipe when
cooking, you can brew your own beer. The basic steps for an extract beer
recipe are as follows. It's important to note that every beer is
different, so while the method is similar, make sure you know the
correct recipe for your type of beer and quantity.
Prepare
Gather your ingredients and equipment. Sanitize everything carefully.
Brew
Steep your grains for color and flavor. Bring the kettle to a boil.
Add your malt extract. The liquid is now called wort. Add
your hops at intervals depending on the type of beer you are making.
Cool your wort as quickly as possible.
Ferment
Transfer your cooled wort into a fermenter. Add water and yeast. Close
the fermenter with an airlock. Now it's time to wait. For homebrews,
fermentation typically takes around two weeks.
Bottle
Once your fermentation is complete, it's time to bottle your beer! Add
dissolved sugar and fermented beer to the bottling bucket. Mix well
and carefully fill and cap your bottles. This is the stage in which
your beer carbonates, so let it rest for around two weeks before
giving it a taste.
Enjoy!
