'Sup! Not sure how you've stumbled across this terribly designed page, but
fancy finding you here-- wherever you are! Welcome to my stream of
conciousness landing page about aesthetics that make me feel nostalgic!
I'll throw in some of my thoughts and hot takes on the matter, some
pictures I might find interesting, and I hope it was something cool for
you to look at as you're scrolling through tons of SheCodes basic examples
(cause you're stuck on your project idea too ;D) or finding a temporary
poop-read or whatever!
Now, if you are looking for a web page that will nourish your mind with
interesting facts and keep you engaged and provide beautiful visuals, as
I'm sure most other landing pages on SheCodes might be, I am very sorry to
inform you that this is not the page for you! I am merely a 23 y/o, "fresh
out of Zoom University" grad working a sad ass management job in retail
24/7 and I wish I had the time to make this the next Tumblr or Twitter,
but here are my "baby-steps" if you will 😜
Enjoy!...or dont, that's fine too I guess. No hard feelings 💖 But thanks
4 looking anyway fellow hooman!
"Cyberpunk, as a genre, includes a wide variety of visual aesthetics but
is recognised by its encompassing theme of "high tech, low life." This
became prominent in the 1980s. Settings in the cyberpunk genre range
from the richly colored, rough-around-the-edges urban jungles, to
hyper-futuristic, neon cityscapes and bleak wastelands.
Themes used in cyberpunk media involve artificial intelligence, class
uprising, governmental and corporate corruption, anarchy, gang warfare,
and transhumanism. The range is broad but the cyberpunk aesthetic is
often used to convey deeper meanings and commentate on modern society
and sometimes predictions of our future society.""
"The aesthetic known as a Liminal Space is a location which is a
transition between two other locations, or states of being. Typically
these are abandoned, and oftentimes empty - a mall at 4am or a school
hallway during summer, for example. This makes it feel frozen and
slightly unsettling, but also familiar to our brains.
Liminal space aesthetics relate to the unique and combined feeling of
eeriness, nostalgia, and apprehension one gets when presented with such
places outside of their designed context. Most notably, their function
as intermediary points between origin and destination. For instance, an
empty stairwell or hospital corridor at night might appear as sinister
or uncanny because these places are usually brimming with life and
movement. Therefore, the absence of external stimuli (such as
conversations, people moving around, or any kind of dynamism) creates an
otherworldly and forlorn atmosphere."
"The program is about as bare bones as it gets for digital drawing software. You don’t have any stabilizers or line correctors, so lines are often either really stiff due to using the line tool or jagged due to being done by hand. You only get one layer to work with, so things like backgrounds, shading, lighting, under-sketches, among other things are way more difficult. Your brush options are very limited in terms of size, texture, shape, and pressure. I would wager it’s harder to use MS Paint than regular old pencil and ink, because at least you can erase the pencil layer without removing the ink once it’s dried. Its core userbase consists of digital art beginners. You don’t see a lot of art professionals using MS Paint as their main medium for the above mentioned reasons, hence why most of the art made with it consists of beginners who have only just begun working with digital art, especially kids. You don’t often get around to downloading and/or buying more refined programs if you’re just doing it for fun."
