Pottery is a craft that is very hands-on, allowing you to create your own items and customize them as you please. Pottery is one of the most ancient forms of crafting and also one of the most relaxing, mindful activities we can do. When an artist creates something, they inevitably leave a little piece of themselves in that object. People often think that pottery is an expensive hobby, well, it doesn't have to be. For those who aren't fortunate enough to have a local class, can't commit the money or the time, you can still all learn and improve your skills at home with just some clay and a few simple tools.

Choose A Place to Work

Any room would be ok, but preferably pick one with floors that are easy to clean and with easy access to water.
It is also important to have a sturdy table to work on and some shelves to store your pottery for drying.
Make sure you also have a cabinet to store your tools.

Buy Clay And Glazes

Buy some ready to use glaze and clay. You can choose a clay color of your liking.
You can buy clay and supplies at an art supply retailer, artist supplies store or ceramic supplies store.
