Jellyfish are animals that are gelatinous or made of "jelly-like" material, hence the word jellyfish. There are many types of jellyfish, even some that don't sting!
They don't have hearts or lungs either. So how do they function?
Jelly fish's skin is so thin that they can absorb oxygen right through it, so no lungs required.
They don't have any blood so they don't need a heart like we do to pump it.
They respond to their enviroment by using signals from a nerver net below the outer layer of skin also known as the
epidermis, that is sensitive to touch. Pretty cool. 😊
Don't be fooled by their simple physique.
They eat a few things such as phytoplanktop, fish eggs, and other small eggs.
Some jellyfish even eat other jellyfish!! And when they form blooms they would eat almost everything in the water.
Most jellyfish live for less than a year 😢, and the smaller ones may only live for a few days. 😭 Each species have a natural life cycle.
They are composed of 3 layers. The first being the outer layer called the epidermis.
The middle layer made of a thick, elastic, jelly-like substance called mesoglea;and
an inner layed called the gastrodermis.
Apart of that they are made up of about 85% to 96% of water 💧.
