What is it?
While the gender pay gap focuses on how much money women earn in comparison to men, the gender wealth gap refers to how much money women have in comparison to men.
It’s likely that the gender wealth gap is influenced by the gender pay gap (the less women earn, then less assets and wealth they can create). According to the Closing the Women's Wealth Gap Initiative, women earn US$ 0.79 of every US$ 1 compared to men. However, women own only US$ 0.32 compared to men. This wealth gap exacerbates for minorities (women of color, migrants) 😑.
